DAILY CALENDAR VERSION 5.2
Copyright 1993
Elizabeth Copper
March, 1993
Bulletin Board (619)-435-0036
Voice Message (619)-435-2687
PLEASE NOTE:
BULLETIN BOARD SUPPORT SERVICE: Call the Daily Calendar Bulletin Board
at (619)-435-0036 for the latest version of the program, tips and
tricks, support and other shareware programs. This is an open bulletin
board, but registered users of Daily Calendar have access to special
registered user areas.
SUPPORT: If you need help, call either the bulkletin board or the voice
message line. The bulletin board always has the latest version of Daily
Calendar available and offers other files for downloading as well.
NEW USERS:
WHEN INSTALLING THE PROGRAM FOR THE FIRST TIME, you need to do four
things:
1. Check your config.sys file. You must have at least 41 file handles
available. Look for the line FILES=nn (nn is some number). If the
number is not at least 41, change it. You may set the number of files
to anything above 41, and 75 or 99 are fine as well. If you use DOS
3.3., be sure this is an ODD number. A bug in DOS 3.3 wastes 64K of
memory with even numbers of files.
2. Add the following line to your autoexec.bat file: SET CLIPPER=//Fnn
(nn is the number of files set in the config.sys file above. If you
have 75 files, the line would read: SET CLIPPER=//F75.) Please
note these are forward slashes (//) not backslashes (\\) and there are
no spaces in the line you need to add. You may add this line anywhere
in your autoexec.bat file. Do not include the Daily Calendar directory
in your PATH statement.
3. Reboot your computer so the changes in config.sys and autoexec.bat
take effect.
4. Copy the files from the disk into a new directory and run the program
(DAY).
CURRENT USERS:
If you are upgrading from a previous version, PLEASE MAKE A
BACKUP OF ALL THE FILES IN THE DIRECTORY THAT HOLDS DAILY CALENDAR.
This is simply good computer practice when upgrading anything!

If you used the MODIFY DATABASE feature in Version 3.2B, call the
support number for assistance. This feature has been removed because it
consumed a great deal of memory. If you want, you will receive a custom
version to support your modified name and address database.
Next, copy the Version 5.2 files into the directory that already has
Daily Calendar. The new files will copy over the old ones. Do not
delete any old files before copying the new ones into the directory.
Next, run the program (DAY). You will see welcome screens and a
configuration check will occur. Your current configuration will be
maintained EXCEPT for your printer. Reselect your printer from the
configuration options.
ALL USERS:
PLEASE READ THE TWO-PAGE HOW2USE.DOC FILE. This is a simple
introduction and instructions for a self-demonstration of the program.
If you follow the steps, you will see the major functions and how they
work. Please refer to the documentation for detailed instructions and
all the program options.
PLEASE register if you like the program and use it.
